Quite a three weeks for Seven Jazz in Leeds! They present evening concerts by jazz superstar Andy Sheppard, then the "Mingus Profiles" band keeping alive the genius of the great jazz adventurer Charles Mingus, who died in 1979, and finally a family night out that will also be a treat for the jazz connoisseur with Alan Barnes Octet performing "A Christmas Carol"! Phew....

This concert features works from Andy's new album, Surrounded by Sea (ECM). As the evening concert sold out within days of tickets going on sale, Seven Jazz have arranged an extra early evening performance which will start at 5.45pm and finish at 8pm. (doors open 5.15pm).

Formed in 2011 for the Southbank Meltdown Festival, the Sextet concentrates on Charlie Mingus’s musical portraits of friends, lovers, political enemies, musicians and one cat (!), with pieces from the classic ‘Ah Um’ at the core of the repertoire.
