Running around Lakeland - Entrepreneur Generations

Today we headed down south to England to the hills at the Lake District, what a beautiful place to visit. A place to run, climb and spend time with friends outside. Danny parked the car not far from some place with a mapped route that Dave looked into the night before.  I love the uncertainty, so looking at maps, studying routes and what's happening where and when has never been my thing, just go with it but by being around planners is now rubbing off on me over time (or is it?).  I've went wrong so much at races in the past by having no plan, but looking back, that's been the funny and vest parts  ... And to life in the past also.  But the uncertainty of life is the best part of the adventure, and they think that too also .... Otherwise why would we would we be travelling over 100 miles to run around hills in a different country for fun (we never followed the route but it just felt more professional having one).  We are like the people we hang around with, no matter how we try and say we are different! We are young guys loving the ultra life (beyond normal).  Off we went, it's time to run and climb. The weather is something I never talk about as it's all good when you live outside, when it's cloudy on top you don't see much on the hill or mountaintop, but you can always feel it and can even get lost in it!  You feel the footsteps, the climb, the company, the lifestyle and it's great. Passing waterfalls, valleys and lots of rocks and steps. I loved it down there, they planned on 30-40 miles but really we just enjoyed the whole trip together. Ran nowhere near that distance today, but the laughs and journey on the road down, the trails, times out and then laughter on the run up the road again (run up the road means drive home) as lads do when they talk together. Simple things like who's the slowest and who's doing what. Dave had the go pro and it's always good to record runs on Strava like we all do.

Up to the top and lots of rocks and a scramble, laughing with Danny of his climbing technique had me damage my ankle, not in a bad way just by not paying attention. When you trail run and mountain run its about being in the moment and feeling every breath, when I'm with people we laugh a lot so it's harder to concentrate on the mindful times. Down hill we speed off, took a wrong turn and we were lost in mist, clouds and I'm the middle of nowhere, it was great. That's the character building times, these are the parts I enjoy. When your competing it annoys you getting lost, especially when your out to finish strong. It's something I know I should look into but ultra marathons I really just prefer the training runs with friends rather than the events now. I've made my peace with the sport and took it as far as I can publicly, now just run around and enjoy life.

The ankle kept rolling with the downhill speed, Dave is fast on the downhill and Danny picks it up there too and for me then I've had results in the past but you are only as good as the present moment and my ankle was getting weaker from the hit at the top. My training run was over, I'll hold the camera and play catch up, character building times in the hills was fun. I know how to run injured, finished my first 100 miler hobbling the last 30 miles. With experience on being wiser I now know when to stop, when your out to prove something or finish an event then you never quit but now I've made my peace with the sport then if my ankle hurts then I will relax instead of hobble on.

Hit the bottom said yo the guys, and they headed to round up some miles while I sat with the cows at the farm and enjoyed moments in mindfulness with those beautiful animals. I love animals, they look into your eyes and you feel this amazing sense of connection and love. On the way home we all stopped at the carvery, Dave tried going vegan for a month, that was 9 months ago now and he's still vegan with food choice now and keeps getting better, Danny even said no to turkey at the carvery and went for a plate of veg also. He's not vegan but he's noticing the change in our running over time and the changes with his own performance with making small changes over time. So 3 guys running around the hills, some vegan food and then home to all our different houses is my idea of an amazing day out with the guys. Now back home cooking more plant based food (rice, beans, veg and fajitas) while I write this blog.  Then will go next door to the gym which has a sauna & steam room which is great for relaxation, meditation and conversation with whoever comes in, people are great.
