March 18th - Ruth Lambert Trio
"It's all about the intimacy of the trio. Three voices, each one as important as the other"
The Ruth Lambert Trio takes it's main influence from the early recordings of Julie London's Trio. With the intimate accompaniment of Giles Strong's guitar and Mick Shoulder's bass, Ruth swings, improvises and transforms each song into something distinctive and personal.
From beautiful originals to classics from the great american songbook, Ruth sings with an elegance that can take your breath away. Strong and Shoulder transport you back to the days of the smokey jazz club with a spirit that only genuine affection can achieve.
Their willingness to always serve the song, musical taste and easy authority set this group apart from the legion of vocal trios out there. Julie, Anita. and Carmen are all ingredients in the recipe but the result is very much their own.
