On Visiting Dexter's Apartment in Miami Beach - Entrepreneur Generations

This past weekend, I found myself on a quick weekend getaway to visit friends in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area. The extent of my knowledge of Miami is through the TV series Dexter, one of my favorite shows (especially for those first four seasons) of the great television era of the 21st century.

We were sightseeing around the area, first seeing all the cool art in Wynwood, when I had the idea: where is Dexter's house? I was most interested in Rita's house that Dexter moved into, and where Rita was eventually murdered by the Trinity Killer, but it turns out that house is in Long Beach, CA. However, Dexter's apartment -- the one that appears in nearly every episode, where those creepy opening credits (one of the best opening credits in the history of television) -- is a real apartment building in Miami Beach, and it was only about 25 minutes from Wynwood, and on the way back north to Fort Lauderdale.

After I found the address online (1155 103rd Street, Miami Beach, on Bay Harbor Island in Miami Beach), we made the scenic trek along the coast, getting more and more excited to discover where the "Bay Harbor Butcher" might live. There were some cautions online that the complex had put up a gate and that it wasn't possible to see Dexter's door (Apartment #10B) anymore, but we decided to try anyway, to at least catch a glimpse.

When we arrived at Bay Harbor Club, we luckily arrived at the same time as a Fed-Ex Driver, who inadvertently let us in to the courtyard.

We were in and out in 10 minutes, but not before some awesome shots. Apparently, the show's producers built a replica of the apartment building and view after the first few episodes were filmed, but it was still pretty cool to see the original.

From the opening credits.
View from in front of the door. Rail has gotten a little rusty since the show!
The corner condo overlooks Bay Harbor, where Dexter / the "Bay Harbor Butcher" dumped his remains.

It's nice, and according to the internet, condos aren't too expensive, ranging from $175,000 - $300,000. That's a heated pool on the right. It seemed like mostly for older people.
