Darlington Jazz Festival is back April 21-23 - Entrepreneur Generations

Darlington Jazz Festival is back this month bringing its usual array of live performances to venues across the town.

The festival, now in its fifth year, continues to go from strength to strength, and allows North-East audiences to experience a range of jazz and big band acts.

It kicks off on April 21 with a workshop at Crown Street Gallery where local musicians can learn from one of the festival’s headliners, Darlington-born Matt Roberts.

Matt will then take to the stage at the Voodoo Café on Friday night to lead his own group, already prominent on the London Jazz scene.

During Saturday, venues across the town centre will host a variety of acts, before the main event on Saturday night, an evening with award-winning Yorkshire trombonist Dennis Rollins.

Rollins is well-known on the national and international jazz scene and will be joined by multi-instrumentalist Al Wood and the Durham Alumni Big Band at the Dolphin Centre’s Central Hall.

The festival rounds off on Sunday with more acts performing across town centre venues.

Shaune Eland, Darlington Jazz Festival Director, said: “Last year’s festival was a huge success and saw the hard work of organisers and musicians rewarded with sell-out audiences. We’re hoping for more of the same this year.”

Find ‘Darlington Jazz Club’ on Facebook and Twitter for further details on acts and venues.
