Busquitos 30 April
From Les and the team
We certainly started with a bang last Saturday with the Carl Sinclair Boogie Band and John Hallam - possibly a record attendance and the "House Full" sign on display. We are already in negotiations for a session in 2017. Here is our forthcoming April programme
9th – Maine Street Jazzmen – from the North East comes one of our favourite groups. No nonsense, driving traditional jazz with the added bonus of superb harmonica playing from leader Herbie Hudson plus a sprinkling of rousing vocals from Olive. Just pure entertainment par excellence.
16th – Dave Donohoe Jazz Band – this month just gets better and better! One of the giants of the British jazz scene who has been in the forefront of the New Orleans and associated styles for many years. Led by Dave on trombone, the band includes such luminaries as Frank Brooker on reeds, Teddy Fullick on trumpet, the wonderful Tom Kincaid on piano and Jim Swinnerton on bass.
23rd Savannah Jazz Band – as we have said before – Yorkshire’s Premier Jazz Band playing at Yorkshire’s Premier Jazz venue. Always a terrific atmosphere and a wonderful session of traditional jazz is guaranteed. Bring them on!
30th - The Busquitos – from the Netherlands – and making a first appearance in Bozza is this energetic quartet with an international reputation. On tour in the UK, a Dutch Showband with a foot in many musical camps including Hot Club, Roaring Twenties, Armstrong and even R and R. No holds barred. Something a little different - which we are sure you will enjoy - so let’s give them the traditional warm JITS welcome. www.busquitos.com £10.
The new PA system has been installed and Ken has been very busy making the final adjustments. The sound quality during the first trial evening was excellent and the system will cut down significantly on set up and dismantling times.
Our thanks again to all of you who participate in the weekly raffle - it helps keep music live!
Thanks also for all your support.
Kind regards
Les + the Team
