Soothing summer of gigs at Seven Jazz Leeds - Entrepreneur Generations

Arun Ghosh Quartet, Village Jazz Festival  Saturday 3 September 

For the first time Seven Jazz in Leeds are offering a programme that lasts all summer. They've got English folk/jazz group "Drawing Hands", US Jazz guitar sensation B.D.Lenz, Leeds sax legend Mike Cox with his all star sax line up, Tom Sharp's award winning Jazz Orchestra, and five (yes five) chances to come and sing or play during July and August. Then this all leads up to the first Village Jazz Festival in Chapel Allerton from September 2-4th. It all starts this Sunday at Inkwell with two sets from one of the most interesting bands of our summer, "Drawing Hands"

Sun July 3 Sam Jackson's "Drawing Hands" 
@Inkwell, doors 1pm, music 1.30-4.00pm Drawing Hands are a Leeds-based quartet that performs original music inspired by 17th century counterpoint, traditional English folk and 21st century jazz. Sam Jackson double bass, Jack Chandler Alto Saxophone, Dan Barker-Bey, Tenor Saxophone, Harry Orme Acoustic Guitar. £7/5

Sun July 10 Jazz Cafe and Jam session 
@Seven Arts doors 1pm, music 1.30-4.00pm. Our jazz cafe and jam session are always good fun - bring your voice or your instrument (or even your band) and join in or just come and enjoy the quirky fun. There is a rhythm section if you need one - Alex Podraza piano, Steve Crocker bass and Steve Mullarky on drums £5 performers £10 full £8 conc.

Sun July 17 US jazz guitarist B.D.Lenz trio
@Seven Arts, doors 1pm, music 1.30-4.00pm Mix together the styles of Pat Metheny, Mike Stern, and Stevie Ray Vaughan and you have the recipe for contempo-jazz guitarist B.D. Lenz. This New York native has played guitar since his early teens, is a graduate of Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, and has studied with such masters as Mike Stern, Vic Juris, and Charlie Banacos along the way. Sun July 24 Mike Cox's "Senior Saxes"  
@Inkwell, doors 1pm, music 1.30-4.00pm Al Wood, Bill Charleston, Mike Cox, Rob Mason (saxes), Andy Cholerton piano, Paul Chamberlain bass, Paul Smith drums. Mike Cox’s musical associations go right back to playing with John Barry in the 1960's. Sun July 31 Tom Sharp’s Jazz Orchestra 
@Seven Arts,doors 1pm, music 1.30-4.00pm. Come and hear some of the best classic big band charts performed by a big band of some of Leeds top young musicians. Don’t get bored over August! Seven Jazz members bring you their bands to entertain you. Each gig will also have a jam session afterwards - you can perform all those summer school licks you learnt – or just come along and enjoy!

Chapel Allerton Village Jazz Festival 2-4 Sept
The first “Village Jazz Festival” will be held the first weekend after August bank holiday as part of the Chapel Allerton Festival.
