Stephanie Rawlings-Blake's tenure as mayor is reaching the level of embarrassment in these last 100 days in office. She has banned P. Kenneth Burns, a reporter from WYPR, from covering her press conferences, citing "verbal and physically threatening behavior," but without any details or evidence of such.
As David Zurawik says in this piece, Burns is a veteran journalist who asked the Mayor some tough, but reasonable (watch the link above) questions that Rawlings-Blake refused to answer. She leveled a pretty serious charge at Mr. Burns, but offered no evidence. All signs point to this being a weak mayor who can't handle tough questions, and now wants the journalist asking the tough questions out of there.
Disappointing and undemocratic. Book to SRB.
