Hans Bennink - one of the visiting artists at Amsterdam Comes to Tyneside
Newcastle’s Jazz North East have an enthusiasm for Dutch improvisers and have made the earliest possible start on the Jazz Promotion Network/Dutch Performing Arts exchange.
‘Amsterdam Comes to Tyneside’ is an all-dayer mini-festival on Sunday 22nd January 2017 and will feature seven Dutch groups led by a mix of some of the country’s leading established artists (including veteran percussionist Hans Bennink and bassist Wilbert de Joode) as well as up and coming players and British collaborators to perform in the upstairs room at the Jazz Café. Then on Sunday afternoon 23 January over at the Lit and Phil in Newcastle the Dutch contingent reconvene for the first of two improv sets (the second set begins at seven o’clock).
All Norvoljazz promoters are invited to come, listen and meet the Dutch.
