One dead, at least seven injured in rural Ky. school shooting - Entrepreneur Generations

At least seven people were injured and one killed this morning in a shooting at Marshall County High School in Benton, Ky., a town of about 4,300. A sheriff's deputy arrested the shooter, and State Police Detective Jody Cash said "the situation is secure and is no longer active," CBS reports. The shooting happened around 8 a.m. just as students were going to class, NBC reports.

"Two have been transported to Marshall County Hospital, at least one to Lourdes Hospital [in Paducah] and two life-flighted to Nashville hospitals with face, chest and leg injuries, the online Marshall County Daily reports. It's not clear whether any staff were among the victims, or how many injured there are. The name of the shooter has not been released.

The Marshall County Tribune-Courier reported on its Facebook page that students were being bused to the nearby North Marshall Middle School, and that parents could pick them up there.
