In 1967 President Johnson's National Advisory Commission issued a report about the state of rural poverty called The People Left Behind. In a Sept. 12 webinar, the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Institute for Research on Poverty will discuss the nation's progress in reducing rural poverty in the fifty years since the report came out. Moderators Ann Tickamyer of Pennsylvania State University and Bruce Weber of Oregon State University will also offer suggestions for future research and policies.
The webinar will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. ET on Sept. 12, and a recording will be available afterward. Click here to register or for more information.
