The Sidmouth Repair Café continues to do very well.

At its session in the Youth Centre on Manstone Lane last month, members of the public brought all manner of things to be repaired by the team of fixers.

Coffee machines, table lamps, dining chairs, clocks, a music centre and a vintage doll were amongst the things the fixers looked at.



“Very welcoming and friendly,” said one satisfied customer. “Very pleasant people who do an excellent job,” said another about the team of fixers and repairers.

“It was another day well spent, tinkering, fixing, scratching heads, chatting, drinking tea and eating cake”, says Angie Carney, the repair café's lead.

The next Repair Cafe will be at the Youth Centre on Saturday 24th November.

And people do keep coming back. As one customer said, “Friendly, great advice. We'll be returning for repairs: we’re getting the parts!”

There will be a fundraising Concert at St Francis Church on Sunday 19th November, featuring the Sidmouth Gospel Choir.

This video shows how I mend dolls when the plastic is beginning to crack or split. I heat a split pin (a brad, I’m told Americans call them, or a paper fastener) over a candle and use it to melt the plastic and seal it together. If it’s done neatly, then the doll is good as new!
