This Friday (14th June) sees the last gig at Wakefield Jazz before the summer break, with the remarkable Ronnie Bottomley's All-Star Big Band. Ronnie, the legendary drummer, arranger and bandleader is celebrating his 90th birthday this year, but is continuing to produce new arrangements, while threatening that every gig might be his last.
He has put an all-star line-up of northern jazz musicians through their paces at Wakefield Sports Club this Friday night - food available from 7.30pm, band on stage at 8.30pm. More details at https://www.wakefieldjazz.org/ronnie-bottomleys-all-star-jazz-orchestra/
Wakefield Jazz will return on Friday 4th October with Empirical, with other autumn highlights including Jim Rattigan’s Pavillon, Alexander Hawkins, Alison Rayner Quintet, the return of Greg Abate, and New Orleans boogie-woogie piano with Dale Storr.
