Grant applications open for military veterans turned farmers - Entrepreneur Generations

The Farmer Veteran Fellowship Fund is accepting applications for small grants aimed at helping military veterans in their early years of farming and/or ranching. Applications for 2021 funding will remain open through Feb. 14.

The FVFF doesn't give money directly to farmers; instead, it gives money to third-party vendors to pay for items the veteran says will make a crucial difference in their farm business. Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000. Established in 2008, the nationwide nonprofit has provided more than 600 veterans with $3 million in farming equipment over the past decade.

To be eligible, applicants must be honorably discharged veterans of the U.S. military, they must have an agricultural business in operation and a functional business plan, and they must be willing to fully participate in the Fellowship Program, which includes periodic progress reports, mentoring other farmer veterans, and a desire to make a positive impact on the farmer veteran community.
