Latvian Club
Retrosettes 4 October
From Steve Bootland at JATP
A BIG Thank You to all involved in Friday's first gig at Bradford Latvian Club with Emily Brown. Straight out of the blocks, YOU have busted our attendance record with a MASSIVE 97. You are all Heroines and Heroes.
In the almost 20 years since JATP began 4 venues back we have only had in mind: to bring the best jazz for miles around to the widest possible audience at the keenest prices. We only exist for you and we cannot exist without you.
Our last venue the Glyde was popular with the musicians, but it just got too much for the owner who was habitually putting in long hours to keep the place afloat, so he's putting it on the market. This will be our fifth venue since the club was founded in 2000.
Our next performance is the Retrosettes on Friday 4th October , a Vintage styled band from Manchester, originally jazz evolving towards 60’s British Invasion and now, with the addition of a third vocalist/violinist, invoke a folky, rock & roll, vintage sound. A minor departure from straight-ahead jazz, but bags of musical talent and fun, Paulo Sorrentino has great taste. Helen Bytheway : v, p, acc, Paul Bytheway : v,g, Amy Eckersley : v, violin, Tommy Fuller : a & eb, Andrzej Baranek : p, o, synth, Tom Girling : d
